It's been a long ass time since anyone's posted anything to Blip Blop Bit...but I'm thinking it might be time to change that. It is getting to be one of my favorite times of the year--what politicians and pundits annoyingly refer to as political "silly season." And with 2010 shaping up to be the Year of the Tea Party, and Sarah Palin eyeing 2012, it seems like there will probably be much good fodder in the next few months.

But before we move right to the present--me thinks it's not a bad idea to take a look back at some noteworthy finds from the past year or so.

Yipes! What's worse than a scathing criticism of Sarah Palin? If you ask me, it's this piece by New York Times columnist Judith Warner, which expresses pity and concern, rather than contempt and scorn, for Ms. SP. Warner's right--poor Sarah!

Something Stinks...

After making a surprising request yesterday to postpone Friday's Presidential debate, the McCain campaign announced today that it also hopes to postpone the Vice Presidential debate, which is slated for October 2. Unless a decision on the bailout is reached, McCain wants to debate Obama on the 2nd in place of the Palin-Biden debate.


I don't know about anyone else, but this thing absolutely reeks to me! And I guarantee you the debate schools will be pissed. These events take a full year of planning and millions of dollars to put on.

UPDATE: Ole Miss officials say canceling the debate would be "devastating" to the University and result in a 5.5 million dollar loss. They also say that they would be unlikely to reschedule.

Apparently Sarah Palin's had a few.

This from the CNN.com article discussing SP's first open Q&A sesh in Michigan last night:

Asked for "specific skills" she could cite to rebut critics who question her grasp of international affairs, she replied, "I am prepared."

"I have that confidence. I have that readiness," Palin said. "And if you want specifics with specific policies or countries, you can go ahead and ask me. You can play 'stump the candidate' if you want to. But we are ready to serve."

Apparently, John McCain canceled a scheduled appearance on CNN's Larry King Live in response to the video clip below. The McCain camp complained that Campbell Brown's questions were "over the line."

It Just Keeps Gettin' Better

Man, oh man...while Sarah Palin was praying with her Pentecostal church for a $30 billion dollar natural gas pipe in Alaska, I was praying for a VP candidate like Sarah Palin to fill the void in my life that Brit Brit left when she went and got her shit together.

Today I learned that Palin

• was a member of a state party that supports secession (significant because secession would allow Alaska to DRILL DRILL DRILL--and because it's not very patriotic);
• had part ownership of a car wash that she failed to declare on some required gubernatorial forms, and she also had stake in a failed startup named "Rouge Cou" (or literally, "Red Neck" in French);
• appeared on a morning talk show where she laughed as the radio host mocked Palin's political opponent--calling her a "bitch" a "cancer" (a pun bc she was battling cancer--funny!) and making fun of her weight;
• and slashed funding for teen pregnancy programs in Alaska (in spite of the fact that she supports abstinence-only education and opposes all abortions, even in the event of rape or incest).
  

We need not even mention Palin's ethics investigation, her crafty use of earmarks, her ethic's investigation, or Bristol's pregnancy. This election.is.f-ing.awesome.
