Hot Air

Members of the GOP had a field day upon Obama's suggestion that the American public properly inflate their tires and otherwise maintain their cars in order to cut down on oil consumption. In less time than it takes to say "tire gauge," the McCain campaign publicly mocked and derided the idea--which according to statistics, would be far more effective in reducing oil dependency than additional offshore drilling. Not to mention that heeding Obama's advice would yield nearly immediate results, unlike offshore drilling--which is likely to take until 2030 to produce any change--and even then, is unlikely to have any effect on the cost.
